Dr. Alfred Maluwa holds a PhD in Quantitative Genetics, which he graduated from the Norwegian University of Life Sciences, Norway in 2006. He is currently working as Director of Research and Outreach at the Malawi University of Science and Technology. Dr. Maluwa has 31 years of experience as a researcher of which 13 years have been on research management. He is teaching Biostatistics to undergraduate and postgraduate students, and, Research Methods and Technology Commercialization to Postgraduate students. He is also supervising M.Sc. students and co-supervising PhD students at MUST and in partner universities nationally and regionally.
He has been awarded and successfully implemented several research and development projects with many cooperating partners. Currently he has established the research management system at MUST, he is coordinating research and development programs for both students and faculty. He is also leading in innovation development, patenting and commercialization programs for both faculty and students at MUST. He is also coordinating national and international cooperation programs between MUST and partners. He has 60 publications in refereed journals and has contributed to seven book chapters.
