Between July 9 and 12, newly elected members of the MUST Students Representative Council (MSRC) underwent an orientation to prepare them for office.

The annual initiative is organised by the university management through the office of the Dean of Students’ Affairs.

Among others, the MSRC leadership was equipped with general leadership skills and knowledge, and building their confidence to excel in their roles.

According to the Dean of Students’ Affairs, Dr Kondwani Mkandawire, the orientation seeks to build a foundation for fostering effective student governance and nurturing future leaders.

“The four-day orientation is meticulously planned to cover a wide range of topics crucial for effective student leadership. It included presentations on various topics, interactive sessions with members of staff, and team-building activities. Key areas of focus were on leadership skills, decision-making, and conflict resolution. There were also presentations on communication, governance and administration, project management, advocacy and representation, financial management, procurement, and many more others,” said Dr Mkandawire.

MSRC president Alexander Kude, who is serving his second term, said the orientation was timely and empowered them with knowledge and skills to discharge their duties diligently.
