ADDA empowers young minds to tackle climate change
On August 19, 2024, the African Drone and Data Academy (ADDA) within the Malawi University of Science and Technology (MUST) and under the Climate Incubation Educational Programme, started a two-week training for young people aged 12-17 years from some districts in the country.
The programme started with an orientation at MUST campus, welcoming 20 young innovators who will be participating in the training.
ADDA aims to empower African youths with 21st century skills to pilot drones, collect and process geospatial data, and drive sustainable development.
And according to ADDA coordinator, Dr Chikondi Chisenga, the Climate Incubation Educational Programme is designed to equip young minds with the knowledge, skills, and tools to develop innovative solutions to climate change challenges.
He urged the participants to come up with innovative ideas to address climate change challenges in the country.
Over the next 10 days, the young minds will engage in interactive sessions, hands-on projects, and a hackathon to foster creativity and problem-solving skills.
