ADDA contributes to enhanced disaster response efforts

On Tuesday, September 10, 2024, a team from the African Drone and Data Academy (ADDA) under MUST had a productive engagement with government and cluster representatives through the Department of Disaster Management (DODMA) in Lilongwe.
The meeting aimed to present Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for emergency disaster response, developed by ADDA team.
Vincent Katonda from ADDA, in his presentation of the SOPs, highlighted the importance of a Geodata catalogue that hosts Geographic Information Systems (GIS) data to enhance disaster operations.
The presentation also demonstrated the potential of drones in disaster response and showcased the SOPs' role in ensuring coordinated efforts.
The meeting concluded on a positive outcome, with the clusters and government representatives recognizing the SOPs and Geodata catalogue as crucial steps in disasters response coordination.
